August 10, 2021. Ten years ago today, Colleen was entering her 4th week of her 1,000 mile run to NYC. Imagine the heat rising up from the pavement, the hills, the running of over 15 miles daily with no days off, pushing and pushing forward. Imagine those with CF, no days off, downing handfuls of pills, hours of treatments and running, pounding and clearing their airways for a healthier life. Today, we certainly are feeling the heat. We are all pushing forward while keeping up with the ever changing world of COVID. All of us and especially those with CF are once again being more careful, making choices each day on pulling back from large social gatherings, masking again. In short, we are taking care of all those around us so we can all live a healthy life. Let’s get it right – let’s push for our mid-summer dreams of a healthier life for all to become a reality!
The CFF is continually pushing forward on its Path to a Cure. They report that “after positive Phase 2 trial results, Vertex announced the company is moving forward with the development of a potential once-daily triple combination therapy. Two Phase 3 trials will begin later this year and will compare this once-daily therapy to Trikafta, which was recently expanded to include children ages 6 through 11.”
