Well, Team, it’s been quite a week with the horrific news from the Boston Marathon. Perhaps you knew someone close to you who was there. Hopefully no one you knew was hurt. The sadness that fills the space is hard to escape…But please keep believing in running, in exercising, in healthy living.
If you miss the rush from the GO! weekend, come join Colleen this Saturday, 9 am or later, Forest Park Visitor’s Center, and run…for as long as you can….she’ll be doing 5 loops…to honor Boston runners and families…
Colleen Caul posted on facebook Monday night…
I can’t sit and watch anymore of the devastating news about the Boston Marathon Bombing. My heart is breaking for the runners and loved ones who were affected by today’s tragedy. Running has always been a sport about perseverance and spirit. It’s the sport of the people – a bucket list item for so many. And the Boston Marathon is THE running dream for any runner. Watching today’s events unfol…d was terrifying. My mind can’t grasp how or why a human being or group of people would try to crush the spirit of the marathon — the spirit of dreamers. When I crossed the finish line of my first marathon in 2005, I knew my life would never be the same. Every mile of the 6 Marathons and Run for Roses journey that I ran shaped the person I am today. The past 4 weeks of my life have especially been focused on marathon running – ran the Georgia Marathon on March 17 & the GO! St. Louis Marathon 3 weeks later. NOW more than ever, I want to lace up my shoes. On Saturday, April 20, I will embark on a personal marathon in honor of those affected by the Boston Marathon Bombing. I will depart from Forest Park Visitor’s Center at 9AM. All are welcome to join me. I will be running the Forest Park Loop 5 times – just over 26.2 miles. Join me for as many loops as you’d like or maybe just a mile. Please help spread the word. We must stand up for the sport that has always been a vessel for hope, dreams, and the strength of the human spirit. No evil or darkness can ever destroy that. We will keep pushing down the wall; we will keep running. We will never stop dreaming.
